At Natel Energy, I contributed to the design and buildout of next-generation fish-safe hydropower systems aimed at modernizing renewable energy infrastructure while protecting aquatic ecosystems. The company develops innovative hydraulic turbines and testing systems that enable sustainable energy generation through both new installations and retrofits of existing dams.
I primarily worked on the mechanical design of a pressure-control subsystem essential to a new turbine test facility. This system was developed to meet IEC 60193 compliance standards, ensuring accurate and repeatable hydraulic testing conditions. In addition, I developed a dissolved oxygen degassing model and tool from first principles to simulate vacuum degassing behavior—combining analytical derivations with experimental validation to inform facility design and instrumentation strategy. I also supported subsystem fabrication and testing, bridging concept, analysis, and practical implementation.
Through these experiences I advanced my skills in system design and thinking, mechanical design, analytical modeling, and experimental validation. Please reach out if you are interested in learning more about my time at Natel!
